A street rider sponsored by Fit riding dirt while decked out in full S&M race gear? A complete bike from Fit with graphics that pay homage to a classic frame from S&M? The boss man Chris Moeller letting someone steal his helmet and then roost him? This is interesting on all kinds of different levels!
For all of us who didn’t make it out to S&M’s 30 Year Party, we can live it out vicariously through Wes McGrath’s photo gallery that’s over on DIG. I know they had a lot of other stuff going on, but the trails definitely seemed to be the crowning jewel of weekend! Peep the gallery HERE
Moeller posted up another tantalizing look at the prototype of Matty Aquizap’s upcoming signature Credence Black Magic Frame. It’s come back white from powder coat and apparently Matty will be adding his own special touch to the finish when he gets his hands on it. He also dropped another little piece of info about the build/geometry. The Black Magic will use a 5″ head tube as opposed to the standard 4.5″ to help eliminate the need to use headset spacers. Smart and clean!
Brian Foster’s signature frame has been noticeably absent from Fit’s lineup for the past couple of years. I was actually beginning to wonder which frame BF would pick if he decided to build up a new bike. Well it looks like maybe it is time for him to build up a new ride because Moeller just announced via his Instagram that Fit is about to start on a small batch of BF frames. I’m not sure exactly just how many a “small batch” is, but you may want to hit up your favorite Fit dealer now if you want to lay claim to one of them. Chrome or “falcon blue” are your color choices, and as far as top tube length goes, 21.25″ or 21.5″ are what you got to work with. The trails friendly 74° head tube angle and 14.25″ rear end length are also definitely worth mentioning. These things are going to go fast… both off the shelves and at the trails!
Go ahead and stop what you’re doing and tell who ever is around you that you can’t be disturbed for the next 40 minutes. Apparently this incredible footage from the 1991 UGP Flying Circus Dirt Contest has been floating around Indiana on a VHS tape for the last 24 years. Someone please buy Rich Hoppe a beer for getting this online so that the rest of the world can see it! This is pure gold, and if you look closely you’ll spot Brian Foster, Taj, Chris Moeller, Jimmy Levan, and a few more guys who went on to become legends. It’s actually super easy to spot them. Those signature styles came through even back then! The actual contest gets going 17:39, it’s pretty much a practice huckfest till then.
The integrated headset is something that is easy to over look and under appreciate these days. Long gone are the days of whacking on your frame with a hammer trying to get headset cups to go in. The Merged is back with their “Drawing Board” series, and up this time is a look at how S&M helped usher in a new age of hammer free headset installation. Give it a read HERE.
Moeller could have the dudes downstairs whip him up any kind of wild custom frame he could imagine but he chooses to rock a good ol’ Credence C.C.R. Ride caught up with him for a look at his current setup and to fire off some shots of him putting it to use on some SoCal dirt. Peep it HERE!
Here’s the first edit to come from the Boozer Jam that went down at Sheep over the weekend. It’s absolutely incredible the number of people that made it out! Come on Moeller you can’t be casing like that right after you get your stitches out! Via Alli Sports
