Moe Russ put together this nearly 12 minute long edit of the good times he’s been having down in Austin, TX. He was hanging with the Credence Crew so you know there’s a ton of good stuff in here. Most of it is concrete, probably due to the weather, but if you jump to 08:53 you’ll find some action from Eastside. Crazy they actually had fish swimming through the trails at one point!
Here’s one that I didn’t see coming, but thinking about it, it makes perfect sense. Clint is now flying the flag for Relic! Seeing as things have been quiet with Clint’s previous parts sponsor (Tree) for some time now, I was thinking that it would be just a matter of time before someone swooped him up. Relic is a perfect fit if you ask me, and apparently Ashley Charles feels the same. You can check out what he had to say after the jump, and after you get done watching this quick welcome video!
Chris Bird headed down to good ol’ Austin, Texas a couple of weeks ago to join up with Justin Kimmel, Brandon “Pucker” Grimm, Denny Ward, and Joe Orsini who were already down there on A trailcation. Together they hit up damn near every set of trails in and around the greater Austin area, and Chris had his Contour* running for their stops at 9th Street and Eastside. And yes, that means you get a POV view of his crazy ass Speedball crash!
Tomáš Kudrnáč, who I must say has an excellent taste when it comes to his choice of t-shirts, sure has been getting around lately. Vápenka, the MT Trails, Leipzig, Eastside, and the Wetlands, that’s the rundown of all the spots he rides in this new edit. Hopefully the dude has a good milage rewards program! One thing that always stresses me out when planning, or more importantly booking tickets for trips far in advance is whether or not the weather is going to cooperate when the trip comes around. I’ve managed to have been pretty lucky with that so far, but unfortunately luck wasn’t on this guy’s side. Of the fourteen days he had in Austin, it rained nine of them. Definitely a bummer but he kept it positive and is hoping for better weather when he visits this year. At least he did get a little Eastside session in on that last trip! Spotted…
I was always quite fond of this piece on Robbo’s time in Austin that Stew put together for Mutiny a few years back. The Eastside part of it starts hittin’ at 01:37.
I had my flashback post for this week all picked out and ready to go but then Schwartz reminded me of this gem from the Clint and the Eastside Crew. I don’t know what’s the best part of this, the riding, Tom Dugan looking like he’s never used a shovel before, or the ball breaking he receives for not being able to use said shovel properly.
Stay Strong‘s UK recruit Craig Teague racked up the miles driving around the US on his journey to visit Stephen Murray in California. Riding from the Stay Strong Compound, Sheep Hills, and even a little Eastside set to the soothing vocals of Don Henley. I can dig it!
Sadly this POV of Anthony Napolitan tailing Clint Reynolds through the main line at Eastside is the closest I’ve gotten to the feeling of actually riding the place. They haven’t been running either do to extreme flooding or extreme drought the last four times I’ve been to Austin. Hopefully this will be the year that I finally get to put tracks other than footprints down on the place. For now I’ll just rewatch this a few more times.
I’m almost positive that all of the other competitors in X Games Dirt have been off somewhere practicing their best maneuvers these last couple of weeks leading up to the big show. Clint on the other hand has been dealing with the deluge of rain that has had a firm grip on Austin. Putting his best drainage techniques into practice has take precedent over brushing up on his front flip whips. He did manage to sneak in a few laps at the freshly drained House Park before returning to the woods to continue the draining operations there. Two X Games…
