I’m almost positive that all of the other competitors in X Games Dirt have been off somewhere practicing their best maneuvers these last couple of weeks leading up to the big show. Clint on the other hand has been dealing with the deluge of rain that has had a firm grip on Austin. Putting his best drainage techniques into practice has take precedent over brushing up on his front flip whips. He did manage to sneak in a few laps at the freshly drained House Park before returning to the woods to continue the draining operations there. Two X Games post in a row! That’s probably the first and last time that will ever happen.
Eastside pops into my head every time I see something on the news about the flooding down in Texas. I realize a lot of other trails down there are dealing with the same thing, but I can actually picture the damage at Eastside because the first time I ever went there was right after a flood. I’ve had this old Chase Hawk edit that James Stevens made chillen in my bookmarks for quite some time now. It’s cool to look back and see how much the trails have grown since then. I can only imagine how much they’ll probably grow during this latest rebuild!
My heart goes out to all the trail builders down in Texas that have been dealing with crazy rains and flooding. The pictures that have been popping up on social media are hard to even look at. The ones above are from Graveyard and 9th Street, but I can tell you that Eastside and Tejano aren’t looking much better. I imagine that Red Box, Hush, and Ant Hills also look about the same. As bad as things are, I know the crews down there will get things sorted out and have the trails running better than ever. That’s the thing about trail builders, for the most part we are able to take the bad things that Mother Nature dishes out and turn them into positives. Sure it may entail more work than even we knew we could possibly do, but we get it done. Best of luck to everyone down there. If you happen to be in Texas sometime in the next few weeks, get in touch with someone at the trails down there and lend a hand. I’m sure they’ll appreciate it!
I find myself asking the same thing whenever these leftover edits come out. How did this stuff not make it into the original video? I mean yeah, the Credence DVD was packed with plenty of radness, but Clint could have slid this on in there as well!
This Skapegoat 10 mixtape from Animal is the last place in the world I would have thought of to look for a bunch of trail footage, but lo and behold there’s a real SOLID Eastside section at the end. 13:30 is the magic number to skip to!
