Attention Richmond, VA Friends!

Listen up if you are or are going to be anywhere near Richmond, VA this afternoon! There’s a “visioning session” with the city from 5-6pm at Gillies Trails that is an opportunity for the public to discuss the future of the trails and what they would like to see out of them. With the trails recently becoming recognized and legal with the city of Richmond, the local chapter of MORE (The Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts) has become involved with them. There have been some rumblings that MORE’s vision for Gillies is different than the vision of the crew currently building and riding there, so it’s important that as many people come out to the meeting this afternoon to show support for what the locals already have going on! Click HERE if you need directions! Photo of BF riding Gillies last year was respectfully pilfered from Crandall’s “4 hours with Brian Foster” gallery that was featured on The Least Most,

Flashback: Fort Wayne Scene Report 1994

As crazy as it is to think about now, Fort Wayne, Indiana was at the top of the list of places I wanted to live back when I was in high school. The motley crew of dudes who ended up calling that place home during that time is directly to blame for that. The videos they put out gave us a first hand look into the BMX scene they had carved out in a midwest town that I’m sure I had never heard of up until then. It really did seem like a little BMX mecca to myself and the other guys I grew up riding with. By the time we graduated the once thriving Fort Wayne scene was on its last leg. Several of its key members had packed up and relocated to a town I would become all too familiar with, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This scene check that Kip Williamson put together back in 1994 takes me back to those days of wishing high school would hurry up and be over so that we could head west and join up with the guys who had become our heroes after watching Juvenile Trickery, 1201, and Ring of Fire literally hundreds of times.

Research and Development = A New and Improved FBM Steadfast

Crandall penned a cool piece that will give you a little insight into his personal growth and how it pertains to the updated FBM Steadfast frames that will be out in spring. It’s a good read and there are also 30 or so pictures that accompany it. Having seen in person the prototype that he’s been riding, I think you all will be pretty stoked on the Steadfast’s latest incarnation! Check out what Crandall had to say HERE.

Project Loop – 50/50.3 Skatepark Fundraiser

This is the third year that Project Loop has worked with artist to create works to be auctioned off to raise funds to build a skatepark in Taylor, Texas. Skateboard decks were the medium this year, and one of those boards features an amazing tintype photo from photographer Adrian Whipp. There are also boards from Steve Crandall, Mat Hoffman, Sandy Carson and many other artist, but as you can imagine, Adrian’s board is the one that I personally would bid on. Apparently there are quite a few people who also feel that way, because the auction for it is already up to $210. The auction ends on Saturday so click HERE if you want to sneak in a bid!
